It is generally examined in two main groups as low-risk and high-risk. Low-risk types of HPV usually do not cause cancer, but they can cause uncomfortable symptoms such as warts. Especially HPV-6 and HPV-11 types are the most common causes of genital warts. These types of infections are usually treatable and not life-threatening.
